Cabaran-Cabaran Perusahaan Kecil Dan Sederhana di Malaysia Pasca Merdeka
The Challenges of Small and Medium Enterprises In Malaysia Post Independence

Artikel ini membincangkan mengenai perkembangan Perusahaan Kecil dan Sederhana (PKS) di Malaysia. Objektif artikel ini ialah untuk menerangkan perkembangan PKS, cabaran-cabaran yang dihadapi dan juga masa hadapan PKS di Malaysia terutamanya melibatkan kedudukan ekonomi kaum Bumiputera. Pemerkasaan industri ini telah bermula semenjak 1951 dengan tertubuhnya Lembaga Kemajuan Perusahaan Luar Bandar (RIDA) yang berperanan untuk melonjakkan kemajuan ekonomi Bumiputera. Usaha tidak terhenti menerusi penubuhan RIDA apabila pelbagai tindakan, polisi dan penglibatan berterusan kerajaan bagi memastikan PKS Bumiputera masih berdaya saing dalam pasaran. Meskipun kerajaan turut serta terlibat dalam membantu PKS berkembang di negara ini, namun pelbagai isu dan cabaran telah muncul sehingga menggugat usaha yang dirancang bagi memperkasakan perusahaan industri kecil sederhana di Malaysia. Antara isu-isu tersebut ialah penerapan inovasi dan teknologi, pembangunan modal insan, akses kepada pembiayaan, akses kepada pasaran, persekitaran perundangan dan kawal selia dan infrastruktur. Manakala cabaran yang dihadapi oleh perubahan persekitaran global, strategi dan hala tuju industri yang tidak jelas dan wujudnya ketidakseimbangan pasaran dan asimetri maklumat. Keadaan ini sekaligus telah mempengaruhi prestasi PKS di Malaysia dan pada masa yang sama memperlihatkan ketidaktentuan keupayaan Bumiputera di negara ini. Oleh hal demikian, artikel ini secara terperinci mengetengahkan sejarah perusahaan kecil dan sederhana dan mengupas perbincangan mengenai cabaran yang dihadapi oleh PKS Bumiputera Malaysia.
