Potensi Ancaman Kebangkitan Kuasa Ekonomi Dan Ketenteraan China Dalam Rantau Asia Pasifik

Since a long time ago international scholars have predicted that China will rise-up as a major power in the international political economy. Base on potential of China to rise-up as number two world power, this article will discuss the forms of potential threat of China through economy and military that could threat the security of Asia Pacific region. The main objective of this study is to elaborate the factors of the rise of China as new power of world economy and to identify potential threat of China’s military towards security of Asia Pacific region. Using content analysis approach, this study uses the concept of human security and security dilemma. The results showed that China indeed has managed to become a big power in the world economy after joining WTO. However, in the present, international political economy showed that China is not completely affects the international order through its military. China is seen working hard to collaborate with its neighbors in Asia Pacific and United States in economic relations.

Abstrak: Sejak dahulu lagi para sarjana antarabangsa telah meramalkan China akan bangkit sebagai salah satu kuasa besar dalam ekonomi politik antarabangsa. Berdasarkan potensi China untuk bangkit sebagai kuasa nombor dua dunia, kertas kerja ini akan membincangkan bentuk-bentuk potensi ancaman China melalui ekonomi dan ketenteraan yang boleh mengancam keselamatan rantau Asia Pasifik. Objektif utama kajian ini ialah mengkaji faktor-faktor kebangkitan China sebagai kuasa baru ekonomi dunia dan mengenalpasti potensi ancaman ketenteraan China terhadap keselamatan rantau Asia Pasifik. Kajian ini menggunakan konsep keselamatan insan dan dilema keselamatan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa China sememangnya telah berjaya menjadi kuasa besar dalam ekonomi dunia selepas menganggotai WTO. Namun begitu, dalam perkembangan ekonomi politik antarabangsa masa kini menunjukkan China tidak menggugat sepenuhnya order antarabangsa yang sedia ada melalui ketenteraannya. China dilihat telah berusaha gigih menjalinkan kerjasama berteraskan semangat kejiranan dan hubungan ekonomi yang mapan dengan negara rantau Asia Pasifik dan Amerika Syarikat.
